An electric fat bike is a truly versatile bicycle. It is an electric motorised mountain bike with very wide “fat” tires, which was originally developed in Alaska for riding in the snow. Fatbike is a versatile bike that can be used for cycling in almost all conditions. It is well suited for cycling in wintry conditions as well as for year-round work trips. The original design idea of the fat bike was the utilization of tire pressures. If the surface is soft, such as snow, the tires are deflated, which increases their bearing surface. If the ground surface is hard, air is added, which reduces tyrel’s contact area to the surface and thus improving the rolling ability of the tyre. Thanks to the large air volume of the fat tyres, the fat bike goes easily over rocks and roots and doesn’t bite into packed snow as easily. Electric fatbikes are available in rigid frame, with front and/or full suspension models.
